| Well,
it's about time..I finally watched the movie!
In
short, I can find no reason in the world that this movie didn't
find a major distributor. The plot was intriguing, fun and even
a little thought-provoking; the acting was top-notch and the directing
was adequate, if a little bland. Hollywood..who can figure what
these guys are thinking?
Because
of the non-release of this film to theaters, I find the DVD quite
disappointing. The extra features are very lean. The few that
are there are interesting, but I would have loved to have seen
more about the making of this movie, more (in depth) interviews
with the cast and crew. If the DVD had more features, it would
be more appealing and I honestly think it's good enough to have
gained a cult following, if SOMEthing special had been done with
this release.
I
know, I shouldn't complain. At least it's finally available to
those of us who can't travel the film festival circuit.
Previous
'review':
I just bought this movie, so I can't really say if I like it or
not.
However,
it is just good to finally be able to see it. It's been a film
in production hell, failing to be picked up for theater distribution.
From what little I've seen and from all that I have heard, I really
can't figure out why. The cast was good, the look of the film
is professional and the plot is quite intriguing.
There's
no explaining the mechanisms of Hollywood. Especially when pieces
of crap like the live action "Cat in the Hat" can be
made, wasting millions of dollars, when small maturely made films
like this get passed over everyday.
I
hope to have more of a review once I have seen the film and had
time to view some of the bonus materials.
