    Dear Michael,

I love watching you on television and I understand the difficulties you must be going through. My grandmother had Parkinson’s and so did a cousin. They did develope it in later years.

Believe it or not I was wondering because you had some ties here in Vermont with a home in Woodstock or was it Manchester, VT? I thought I might reach out and ask you to take a look at our website for Project Independence in Barre, VT. This is the one location for Washington and Orange County here in Vermont. It is an Adult Day Care for Alzhemiers, Dementia and people with Parkinson’s and other dibilitating illnesses.

We purchased a large building as the need was growing and we have four apartment rental units upstairs. That helps with the property taxes etc. We are a non-profit with a RN and several LPN’s and LNA’s among volunteers.

We were doing great until we were hit with a terrible flood not once but twice. The last one with Irene and the first was Memoral Day weekend. We lost everything in the basement plus some water came up on the first floor and the total loss was $290,000.00 plus. We have made most of our repairs and managed to keep open with the exception of the flood time. We are currently caring for 39 people and the numbers are rising. We are trying to reach out for any possible donations as we have run into the red and the last $15,000.00 in repairs are being held up until we can afford to finish them.

I would appreciate it if you would take a look at our website and if you have any questions please feel free to email me back. We really want to keep PI in the black. We have borrowed through FEMA and the SBA but the money and all the red tape takes for ever and they keep switching people as we are on our 5th person now. We have only gotten a fraction of what they thought they would give us initially and now they say they won’t be able to give us what they said to begin with. Also they keep asking for more and more documentation that are duplicates of many that we have already given them. If you are unable to assist us I would appreciate any other recommendations you may have for our cause.

    Sincerely,
Susan Kerin Houle, Vice President of the Board
